Martha Mills (1929)

  • This three-story, approximately 736,000-square-foot factory was used to manufacture industrial textiles, including tire cord, “cotton duck” canvas, and yarns.
  • Project scope included several manufacturing buildings, 1,400 mill village cottages, and a school building. At the height of production, the mill employed about 4,700 people.
  • The plant closed in 2006 and has since been demolished.
