Northside Hospital Forsyth
Cumming, GA
$100 million +

Since constructing the main hospital in 1999, Batson-Cook has completed several projects for Northside Hospital’s Forsyth County Campus in Cumming, Georgia. Totaling over $100 million, some of these projects include: a vertical addition to the main facility, an emergency and radiology addition and renovation, a surgical expansion, and a 108,000 square foot Women’s Center connected to the main facility by a beautiful galleria.

Northside Hospital Forsyth, formerly Baptist Medical Center, consists of a 92,020-square-foot main facility that includes an emergency department, exam rooms, diagnostic imaging and respiratory therapy areas, a pharmacy, laboratory, surgery suites, food service and material management areas, an intensive care unit and patient rooms. The facility has the infrastructure in place to accommodate 150 beds and the future addition of as many as five levels.

After the successful completion of the original three-story hospital, Batson-Cook was selected in 2002 as general contractor for the next phase of construction, which included a two-level vertical addition to the existing facility. The hospital, which remained fully-operational for the duration of construction, added 38,000 square feet of new space and 37 patient rooms. The scope of work also included an addition to the central energy plant, a new pharmacy, renovation of the existing pharmacy labs and conversion of an existing space to three new patient rooms. This project was honored with the prestigious 2004 Build Georgia Award in the Design/Bid/Build Category, from the Georgia Branch of the Associated General Contractors of America.

The next phases of work included an emergency and radiology addition and renovation, and a surgical expansion, in 2003 and 2005, respectively. The emergency and radiology project consisted of 52,500 square feet of space including a new two-story Emergency Room building and a two-level radiation addition, along with renovations to the existing radiation department. The surgical expansion encompasses 134,000 square feet of new space including eight general operating rooms, 15 PACU stations, pre-op/stage II recovery areas, as well as storage and support areas. The renovation of 13,000 square feet within the existing hospital was also included in this project’s scope of work.
