St. Vincent's Medical Center Additions and Renovations
Jacksonville, FL
$50+ million Master Plan Development
Over the years, Batson-Cook has completed several continuous projects
at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Some of these projects include
a surgical suite expansion, interior finishes for three heart catheterization
laboratories, and a 34-bed skilled nursing unit. Batson-Cook has
also constructed a family medicine facility, outpatient rehabilitation space, a seven-level,
766-space parking deck, and clinical laboratory expansions.
In 2004, Batson-Cook performed Construction Manager at-Risk services for the Family Medicine Center. This 3-story structure of approximately 46,000 square feet is built out to include medical offices, exam rooms, procedure rooms, administrative offices, and associated communications and structured cabling. The University of Florida Internship Program is housed in this building, whose design was developed in accordance with the local Riverside-Avondale Preservation guidelines so as to blend into its historic neighborhood. The structure is pre-cast with brick and/or limestone exterior finishes. Extensive preconstruction services resulted in cost savings for the owner in addition to their use of Batson-Cook’s direct purchase program.
In 2006, Batson-Cook was Construction Manager at-Risk for a 187,000 square foot, seven-story addition to the DePaul Building. It houses St. Vincent’s Radiation Oncology Department on the ground floor (including two linear accelerator vaults) and elevated connector to the DePaul Building. This is known as the Walk of Hope, which includes support services and shops for cancer patients such as a salon, wigs, clothing, and prosthetics. The pre-cast structure was designed and constructed to support future vertical expansion.
In 2007, Batson-Cook served as Construction Manager at-risk for the King Street Development, an addition to the hospital consisting of two buildings, a parking garage, and a pedestrian bridge. The garage structural system is pre-cast with brick and stucco architectural details. The Medical Office Building is 60,000 square feet and includes a pedestrian bridge across King Street to connect it to St. Vincent’s main building. A 200-car parking garage is also attached. The third building, River House, houses the Sisters who are assigned to the Medical Center, and includes a spirituality center and overnight stay suites to accommodate guests and patients. This project was the recipient of the 2008 Horizon Honorable Recognition Award from AGC.
