This 110,000-square-foot building houses facilities for Columbus State University’s performing arts, studio arts and fine arts programs. Located in the “Uptown” portion of Columbus, Georgia, this project is the renovation of a former Pillowtex mill with new construction for the theatre section.
Included in the project are a proscenium main stage theatre with state-of- the-art sound and audio-visual technology, and a studio theatre and gallery to showcase sculpture, ceramics, metals, photography and art and design. The new studio theatre seats 150 people with a flexible multi-seat arrangement and a portable stage. The performance theatre seats 382.
The building showcases a glass curtainwall system to allow students and faculty a view of the adjacent Chattahoochee River, along with a courtyard area for outdoor receptions. |
