Nashville, Tennessee (August 12, 2015) — Batson-Cook Construction of West Point, Georgia, has broken ground on SkyHouse Nashville, a luxury mixed-use tower in the heart of midtown Nashville that will feature residential apartments, retail space, and a rooftop amenities deck.  SkyHouse Nashville is the 15th SkyHouse-branded project the 100-year-old general contracting firm has begun since 2011.

Upon completion in the summer of 2016, SkyHouse Nashville will rise 25 stories with 352 apartment homes and more than 10,000 square feet of retail space along Broadway, 17th Avenue and Division Street.  It will also boast one of the city’s highest amenity decks – its signature rooftop SkyHouse – with 360-degree views of Music City and a luxurious clubhouse, state-of-the-art fitness facilities, swimming pool, and outdoor kitchen.

Earlier this year, Batson-Cook Construction wrapped up work on SkyHouse Buckhead in Atlanta, Ga., SkyHouse Channelside in Tampa, Fla., and SkyHouse Raleigh in Raleigh, N.C.  SkyHouse Buckhead is a 26-story, 362-unit high-rise apartment community on Stratford Road, which connects to the Buckhead MARTA station by a new $32-million pedestrian bridge spanning Georgia 400. SkyHouse Raleigh delivered 320 apartment homes and 5,400 square-feet of street level retail to a key location on the southwest corner of Martin and Blount streets in downtown. SkyHouse Channelside is a 23-story, 320-unit luxury apartment building on 12th Street between East Washington and East Whiting streets in the Channelside district of Tampa.

Overall, the SkyHouse program, led by developer Novare Group and co-sponsored by the general contractor’s sister company, Batson-Cook Development Company, has started or delivered more than $1 billion in new multi-family product across the southeastern United States and in Denver since 2011.

The SkyHouse program is aimed at Gen Y professionals who are choosing in-town living and want to be close to culture, entertainment and work.  SkyHouse delivers that while creating a unique, safe urban experience for residents who prefer to rent rather than buy. SkyHouse projects are environmentally sustainable and Energy Star certified.

The partnership allows the SkyHouse communities to be delivered in urban locations where strong economic and demographic trends favor in-town living, but where apartment cost economics are otherwise difficult for high-rise towers directed at a younger population. Lean construction techniques implemented on these projects yield a truncated build-time, enabling the projects to be delivered quickly at attractive cost-structures for high-rise apartments.

Nashville marks the 15th SkyHouse started by the partnership and follows projects in Atlanta, Austin, Dallas, Houston, Charlotte, Denver and Orlando, in addition to those in Raleigh and Tampa. The innovation of the SkyHouse program lies in the experienced team led by Jim Borders and Novare Group with co-sponsor Batson-Cook Development Company, general contractor Batson-Cook Construction, and the architectural firm of Smallwood, Reynolds, Stewart, Stewart.

MARIETTA, GEORGIA (August 7, 2015)
– Batson-Cook Construction has completed construction of The Health Center, a new safety-net health facility in Marietta that will house three behavioral care programs under one roof.  Grand-opening festivities were held today at the center, which is operated by Cobb Douglas Community Services Board (CSB).

The $6-million Health Center, located at 1758 County Services Parkway Southwest, will provide stabilization and walk-in services for adults experiencing behavioral healthcare issues, according to CSB Interim Director Bryan Stephens.  The three programs provided are: a 24-bed stabilization unit with four transitional beds; a six-bed, 23-hour observation-level status program; and a 24/7 clinically-staffed walk-in center.

The two-story, 43,042-square-foot is an institutional hospital facility for the treatment of persons incapable of self-preservation.  The first floor houses the three in-unit behavioral care areas along with off-unit administrative offices.  High-level security and safety features, including anti-ligature materials, are in place. The second floor is shell space available for future expansion. The fully-sprinklered building has a full brick, cast stone and metal panel exterior.

“All of us at Batson-Cook are pleased to have been part of a project designed to provide immediate healthcare services to people in need,” said Pete Striplin, project executive for Batson-Cook. “We enjoyed partnering with Pieper O’Brien Herr Architects on this successful design-build project.”

Noting that the project was two years in the making, CSB’s Stephens said, “We are very excited to be close to the start of a new program that will improve our engagement with the citizens we serve."
