CHARLOTTE, NC. (January 23, 2019) – Batson-Cook Construction, one of the Southeast’s leading commercial construction companies, has broken ground for FNB Tower-Charlotte, a new $92-million multi-use bank tower that will be located on a site between Bank of America Stadium and BB&T Ballpark in Uptown.
The 555,816 square-foot tower will include office, residential, retail, and parking facilities. FNB Corporation of Pittsburgh, parent company of First National Bank, will be the anchor tenant for the 29-story cast-in-place building.
“We are excited to begin work on this significant new project in Uptown Charlotte where we first began building in the 1980s,” said David Hamilton, project executive for Batson-Cook. “This project has been in the design and planning stage for about 26 months, so the Batson-Cook team is eager to start building!”
FNB will occupy some 40,000 square feet of the tower plus a ground-floor retail branch. Also at street level will be retail space and separate lobbies for the offices and apartments. Above that in ascending order will be eight levels of parking for 391 vehicles; seven levels of office space totaling 156,500 square feet; an interstitial level with amenity structure and storage; and 13 residential levels featuring nearly 200 studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments.
Amenities at FNB Tower-Charlotte include an outdoor sundeck, a pool with a covered lounge, a fitness center, and club and entertainment areas.
Completion is tentatively set for early 2021. The site, currently used for surface parking, is located at 401 S. Graham Street.
Dominion Realty Partners is the developer of FNB Tower-Charlotte. Architect for the project is Rule Joy Trammel + Rubio of Atlanta.
Batson-Cook is noted for constructing several of the buildings which define Charlotte’s distinctive Uptown skyline, including Duke Energy Center, Museum Tower, Hearst Tower, and The Hilton.
